York Poverty Alliance set up in York

20 June 2018 / IKnowFood

Madeleine Power, a Research Fellow working on IKnowFood, is chair of a new York-based initiative, the York Food Poverty Alliance (YFPA). The alliance won £15,000 of funding to look at how to make York a resilient food city where no one goes hungry. YFPA is a partnership between the University of York, the City of York Council, Tesco, York City Football Club Foundation and community food organisations, including the food bank. The project, which Maddy is leading, will research and set up practical initiatives to tackle food poverty in York. The project is funded by Food Power (who have given £10,000) and the City of York Council (who have given £5000 of finance and £5000 worth of an employees time).
